Lowell House Inc Receives a $2,000 Award from The Savings Bank
The Lowell House was one of several local nonprofit organizations that received a financial award from The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation. The foundation, established in 1997 through an initial endowment of $550,000 from The Savings Bank, presented a total of $65,040 to 20 nonprofit organizations during the 27th distribution of funds. Over the past 27 years, the Foundation has made donations in excess of $950,000 to organizations in local communities.
The award was presented by The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation to Michael Reinke, CEO, Chris Carner, Program Director, and residents of the Solstice House, a Lowell House residential treatment facility in Reading.
According to the foundation, 25 organizations presented applications totaling more than $133,500. Awards were granted based on a number of factors, including intended use of the funds by the organization and the organization’s status as a publicly supported charity. Organizations that received an award were located in the areas served by The Savings Bank, with a focus on those organizations serving the residents of Wakefield, Lynnfield, Andover, North Reading, and Methuen.
The Lowell House will use the funds to transport clients from the Solstice House, their residential treatment facility located in Reading, to medical appointments, therapy, support groups and other related activities in accordance with their treatment.
