Re-Entry Support Group Re-Launches at 101 Jackson Street in Lowell

September 10, 2025

Riverbend and THRIVE Communities announced that their joint Clinical Support Group, A New Role, for individuals returning to the community from incarceration, has re-launched at the Riverbend Ambulatory Clinic at 101 Jackson St, 4th Floor, Lowell.

The goal of the New Role Group is to offer a hybrid of social and clinical support for individuals returning to the community from incarceration. Returning community members interrupt cycles of incarceration and pursue their goals through the obtainment of their education, vocational training, employment, housing, banking, driver’s license, photo identification, health care, substance use disorder treatment, and mental health treatment.

“We all have made mistakes in the past. The time is now to take on a new role.” said Sing Thanousith, Director of Community Building at THRIVE Communities, and founding co-facilitator of the group. “A new role for yourself, for your family, and for your community. This is what our group is all about.”

The group kicked back off on Monday, September 8th, and over 45 people attended the kick off event. The group will run weekly every Monday from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. To learn more or register to attend the support group, visit: https://riverbendmv.org/community-based/clinical-support-groups/.

“When individuals succeed in the New Role Group, the whole community benefits. We see families reunited, workplaces strengthened, and neighborhoods made safer,” said Darrell Byas, Clinical Supervisor at Riverbend. “It’s powerful to witness participants not only changing their own lives but also giving back in ways that create a stronger, healthier community for all of us.”
