Riverbend marked a meaningful milestone this March with the successful hosting of its third annual Sober St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Held on March 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the event welcomed approximately 70 community members for an evening that blended Irish tradition with a focus on connection, wellness, and inclusivity.

Hosted by our friends at Dragonfly Café in Lowell, the Sober St. Patrick’s Day event offered a festive alternative to alcohol-centered holiday celebrations. Attendees gathered in a warm, welcoming atmosphere designed to ensure everyone could participate comfortably, regardless of where they are on their personal journey.

The evening featured lively performances by Irish step dancers, whose energetic routines brought a sense of cultural authenticity and celebration to the event. The performances were met with enthusiastic applause and added a dynamic focal point to the evening’s programming.
Guests also enjoyed an assortment of creatively crafted mocktails and a variety of appetizers, which were available throughout the event. The non-alcoholic beverage options proved especially popular, demonstrating how traditional celebrations can be reimagined in ways that are both festive and inclusive.

Beyond the entertainment and refreshments, the event served as an opportunity for meaningful social connection. Attendees mingled, shared stories, and celebrated the holiday in an environment centered on support and community rather than alcohol.
Organizers described the event as a strong success, noting the steady attendance, positive feedback, and overall sense of joy throughout the evening. As Riverbend continues to grow this annual tradition, the Sober St. Patrick’s Day celebration stands as a reminder that community-focused events can honor cultural traditions while promoting health, belonging, and togetherness.
